I was living in my own flat in Saffron Walden and had promised, at some stage, to help Sheila’s (my long term partner) brother to move some pots to Spalding in Lincolnshire as he and his wife were moving up there from Chingford - I phoned him up and said I was free, could hire a van and be with him by about 11:30 - he said yes please and this was the catalyst to trigger a sequence of events that would get me to exactly the wrong spot at exactly the wrong moment

I phoned Sheila to see if she wanted to come with me - no she said as she had plenty to do at her house - had she said yes then...
