Here is how they repaired my injuries
How they repaired my right lower leg...
My right leg was reconstructed (and now resembles a kebab) - I was told that it was not cosmetic but life saving and therefore I am more than happy to have such a deformed leg
The bones were realigned and held in place using the Lattissmus Dorsi Muscle from my back (this is the same muscle that can be used to rebuild or augment the female breast) and then covered with skin harvested from my left thigh - this left me with further scars
- a very neat straight scar from my left armpit to near my hip
- a large rectangular area of - now - a lighter skin tone on my left thigh
The bones were then held together using an external fixator
Subsequently in March 2005 I had to have a Tibial Nail fitted in my Right Leg
as the fixator did not work and my shin bone had not fused properly
In 2008 I had to have another operation to remove a spur that had started to grow and became uncomfortable
